FAITH - The Tongue (Our Mouths/confession/Words)

Let’s read our foundational scripture again pertaining to faith.

Romans 10:8-10 “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

  • Faith works by believing in your heart AND confessing with your mouth. In all areas of our lives.

  • Your heart and the confession of your mouth are to be in alignment with each other.

Matthew 12:34-35 “…For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”

Matthew 12:36-37 “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words, you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Idle – Greek – argos - (as a negative particle) inactive, that is, unemployed; (by implication) lazy, useless: - barren, idle, slow.

  • Jesus first compares the good treasure that comes forth from a man’s heart against the evil treasure that comes forth from a man’s heart.

  • Jesus then draws our attention to a condition that is far worse: Idle words.

  • Idle words, are faithless words, inactive, unemployed, lazy, useless, barren, slow and will condemn us.

Proverbs 22:12 “The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, but He overthrows the words of the faithless."

The words we are professing are important to the Lord.

  • Are our words faith filled?

  • Are our words in line with what we believe in our hearts?

  • Are we negating what we believe, (our faith) by what we are confessing?

  • Do we believe in our hearts for healing, but confess with our mouth’s sickness? (faithless words)

Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

Psalm 103:20 “Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word. Heeding the voice of His word.

  • The words that we speak are to be faith filled words, that are spiritual and active.

  • When we decree and declare the word of God, believing in our hearts, the angels will go into action, moving and influencing the spirit realm to make God’s covenant word come to pass for us.

The Just shall walk by faith!!!
