FAITH - Definitions

Romans 10:10 “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The following word interpretation has been taken from the Strong’s Greek/Hebrew Dictionary:

Believeth – Greek - Pisteuo - to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), that is, credit; by implication to entrust (especially one’s spiritual well being to Christ): - believe (-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with.

Righteousness – Greek - Dikaiosune -equity (of character or act); specifically (Christian) justification: - righteousness.

Confession is made – Greek - Homologeo - to assent, that is, covenant, acknowledge: - con- (pro-) fess, confession is made, give thanks, promise.

Salvation – Greek - Soteria - as (properly abstract) noun; rescue or safety (physically or morally): - deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.

  • With our hearts we have faith, believing and trusting in the Lord Jesus, where we are justified and made righteous.

  • We confess, coming into agreement (covenant) with our mouths the Lord Jesus, receiving salvation, deliverance and health.

What we believe in our hearts and what we speak out of our mouths is in agreement with each other.
